  We purchased vinyl flooring from this company and hired someone to install it five years ago. Over the last 18 months the vinyl planks began separating and had large gaps that you could fit a nickel in. It was unsightly and uncomfortable if your toe was caught in the flooring. I called them not realizing there was a five year warranty on the material. Joey came out and looked at it and his exact words were "I've never seen anything like it before". He had the manufactory (Earthworks) send out an independent consultant to see if they would warranty the product. Of course they didn't. It wasn't installed properly and we had used a Shark steamer. Our frustration - First Floors never handed us a book saying don't clean the floors with a steamer or Murphy Soap, when you install test for moisture in your home and in the slab for three days and the list goes on. In fact the only thing we were told was to install it with the glue purchased from them or it wouldn't be warrantied. We still have a gallon of that glue per their instructions. My parents have had this type of floor for 10 years with no problems but yet our defect is caused by using a Shark steamer and not testing moisture in a 13 year old home before installing. Perhaps First Floors can do a better job selling a product. I don't intend on recommending their company or Earthwork products. If you can't use a Shark steamer that is advertised for vinyl and other floor types then it must not be a great product. I regret the day we went with this product. I should've kept wood like we originally had instead of going with this Earthworks. The inspector said always make sure you follow the warranty material to the T. It helps if the flooring company gives you a warranty manual instead of just collecting an invoice.

  Called on a Wednesday and told the salesman I needed floors installed ASAP as I had furniture on order and couldn't put the furniture in until the floors was installed. I was told they could get on it right away and they would have the wood ordered the next day. I was told it would take a couple of days for the wood to come in and as soon as it did it could be installed within a day or two. So I went in on Wednesday and picked up some samples. Well Thursday rolled around and my salesman had the day off. I was told he would be by the first thing Friday morning for a measurement. Fine. Well Friday morning comes and goes and the measuring guy finally shows up about 2. I was told as soon as he got back to the store he would call me and give me an estimate and would order the wood. Mind you I had already told him I was on a time crunch and every day was valuable. Well Friday evening comes and I get a call saying the salesmen hadn't had time to order my wood and it would be Monday morning before they could order. Monday morning comes and still no call. Wood still hasn't been ordered. A work order still hasn't even been wrote up. The salesman hadn't even shown up for work yet.... So I speak to a manager. He cops an attitude with me like it's my fault the wood hadn't been ordered. Mind you I was ready to order the wood, and pay in full on the Wednesday before this. I couldn't give my money away to these people. They managed to find a way to fart around every chance they got. They know they are the only game in town and just don't care. Take your money elsewhere to a smaller operation that will appreciate your business.
